The construction added more dust to the outside areas but we just wiped everything down before we used it. Over all, the space accommodated our family of 5, with enough spacious gathering areas, inside and out. There is a charcoal grill which is located next to the light parking, we didn’t use it because it needed a good cleaning - no tools to clean it. The hot tub worked well but needed more water. Much of the game equipment was misplaced and needs to be refreshed. We had two vehicles and parking was tight as this cabin currently has two construction zones on the opposite side of the road, which meant construction noise during the week (Sundays is a quiet day). The bottom level toilet leaked which created an odor in the bathroom. Panels in the interior walls were loose and the ceiling tiles in bottom floor were stained with mildew. There were also a list of maintenance issues that have been overlooked over time, some cosmetic and others more major like the plumbing and the hazardous porch entrance (not okay for young children). The most obvious issue was the cleanliness of the cabin, it’ in desperate need of a deep cleaning. The cabin had an odd smell which we bought air fresheners to help mask. Our overall review of the cabin falls somewhere between below average and average. We chose our cabin based on the number of rooms/bathrooms and amenities included. The pool was great and the property is really beautiful. The resort location was great, close enough to the attractions for convenience and far enough away to offer the mountain experience. This was our first time staying in a cabin (4044) at Hidden Mountain Resort. The location was good and really close to the Apple Barn, so if you book here, be sure to keep your belongings off the floor and bags zipped at all times. Unfortunately the experience with the cockroaches will prevent me from staying here again in future. I will say the space was well appointed with kitchen dishes and tools, and even though the hot tub stopped working 15 minutes after we got in the first night, it was promptly fixed after we reported it the next day. That said, I am not ranking lower as I can only hope it’s not pervasive in all cabins. That was disappointing, but I understand maybe they can’t do anything more in case people aren’t truthful, but it’s really unacceptable from a cleanliness standard. We were checking out and the birthday girl who’d booked the stay reported it and the clerk at the desk apologized, but didn’t offer anything more than that. However, as we were packing up to leave two days later, there was a live cockroach crawling over the covers on one of the upstairs twin beds where one of us had slept all weekend. We didn’t panic because at least they were dead and I wouldn’t have even mentioned it. When we first arrived, we found 2 dead cockroaches - one in the kitchen and one in the master bath. We booked the Coffee House (cabin #4077) for a girls weekend to celebrate my friend’s birthday.
